Just watching the river flow.......
The view from the porch of my bungalow.

This is Pai - a place where you can just forget about eveything - nothing matters here. My little bungalow costs me $10 a night - no TV, telephone, fax machines - just the sounds of nature. I can hear the roosters crowing and all kinds of birds that I've never heard before. Amazing......

.............and you should see that stars at night!

This is a tiny little town not far from the Burmese border. There are lots of little shops and cafes with food from all over the world. There are a lot of foreigners here that have made this place their home. Last night I met a guy from Jersey City who owns an internet cafe here - spends half the year here and the other half back in Jersey where he's a professional photgrapher. What a life - summers in Jersey - winters in Pai! I met another guy from Alaska who came here 6 years ago, opened a little cafe and never left. He has absolutely no desire to return to the U.S. He's been coming to Thailand since the 60's when he was in the army in Vietnam. It seems that everyone I meet here has a similar story.

Yesterday I rented a scooter for $4 a day. I'll be doing some riding today - there are a few waterfalls, some hot springs to check out. Maybe I'll go ride a elephant. Who knows? I just know that if I don't do it today, there's always tomorrow. This a place where you just want to savor every moment. Eventually I'll have to go back to the real world.....

Just another day in paradise........

later.............
